Ambulance Run Data Sync receives electronic patient care report (ePCR) data from the EMS agencies that bring patients to your emergency department and turns it into a pre-arrival record on the ED tracking and trauma screens. Your charge nurse and trauma team see the mechanism of injury, vital signs, treatments given and estimated arrival while the unit is still en route, and decide how to prepare. After arrival the record is matched to the registered patient and the completed run report is filed to the chart.

What it is for

Most emergency departments learn about an incoming patient from a short radio or phone report, written on a whiteboard or scrap of paper and passed along by word of mouth. The crew has often documented far more in its ePCR, but the full report arrives after handoff, if at all, and is filed somewhere clinicians rarely look. Trauma activation decisions are made on partial information, the patient is registered under a temporary name that has to be reconciled later, and trauma registrars chase EMS agencies for run reports weeks after the event.

  • Pre-arrival reports are verbal, brief and recorded by hand
  • Vital signs and treatments documented by the crew are not visible until after handoff
  • Temporary registrations have to be matched to run reports by hand
  • Trauma registrars chase missing run reports long after the patient arrived
